RECKLESS LOVE
Kuopio 2006

"You either laugh with us or at us"

The band was found in 2001 and the current line-up has been together since 2004. For all those people who haven't heard about you guys, can you give us a short introduction of the band and it's history?
Perry:
Reckless Love is a four-piece hard rock combo that squeeze's a high level of energy through their sonic attack. We've been around as a group since the beginning of the millennium, and will be for a long time to come.

About your music style... You said that you play cock rock with positive energy. What's cock rock exactly?
Perry:
Hard to say exactly... I find it depressing categorising things anyway. But in my view the cock is all about attitude.

What kind of topics do you treat in your songs? And where do you take your ideas from?
Perry:
Olliver writes 99,9% of all the lyrics... but I know he draws his ideas from his experiences in life.

What is the typical song-writing process for Reckless Love?
Perry:
Usually someone comes up with a riff, and shares it with the rest of the band at practise. We then jam on it and try and let it flow. In my experience the best songs come out easiest. We do think very analytically of our songs too. We want them to be just right - the best the four of us can do.

Who came up with the bandname and does love always has to be reckless?
Perry:
We nicked our original name from a Guns n' Roses song, but then changed it a little to what it is now. It was Olliver I recall who came up with it. Love is reckless!

How do you feel that you have evolved as a band within this two years?
Perry:
We've learned to tolerate each other better haha. Seriously though, the biggest thing I believe is the gain in confidence in ourselves and what we do. Musically, we've taken huge steps towards finding our own musical identity.

You said that you are at your best infront of an audience.  What do you want people to walk away with after listening to your music?
Perry:
We want them to leave with a feeling of joy.

What can people expect from your live shows?
Perry:
Four guys making fools of themselves haha. You either laugh with us or at us.

In february you released you first single, „light but heavy". What made you choose this song to become your first single?
Perry:
Well it was the newest song at the time, so it had that freshness to it. We also felt it had enough hooks to be a hit haha. I think the song's got a sunny light vibe to it.

Will you release an album? If yes, can you reveal a bit about the new songs?
Perry:
There are no plans for a full album yet. We'd need a record company for that first. We do have a new three-song promo cd coming out later this year. The songs on it are called Speed Princess, Easy Absolution and Goodnight. We feel the new disc is a big improvement to what we've done before. Maybe this one will convince those record execs mwahaha.

Last year you had a couple of gigs in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Any plans for a tour outside of Finland maybe later this year?
Perry:
Well not this year, that's for sure. But we'd love to tour abroad again. It was a fun trip, and we learned that our music and live shows can be really well recieved outside of Finland too.

In which countries would you like to play? Are there any bands you want to tour with?
Perry:
Germany's on top of the list of course!;) Hmmm.. I'd like to play in the UK just because that country has such a great history and tradition of classic rock! Bands like Zep, Sabbath and The Who came out of England, so I'd love to go smell the air there! Tour with? Maybe Zep, Sabbath and The Who???

Which bands had a major influence on your style?
Perry:
Many bands. I really can't even name just one because we listen to - and therefore get influenced by - so many bands the list would be too long.. Zep, Sabbath and The Who??? hahah!

What does the future hold for Reckless Love? Your future plans?
Perry:
Our future plan is to continue doing what we're doing - work hard for the band and the music. We'd love to score a record deal in the near future. That's one of the biggest goals.

Your last words for the readers of Suiciderock.com?
Perry:
Hölökynkölökyn to all suiciderock readers! Rock till ya drop!!!
